Carl Shortt Photography
A lifelong amateur photographer, Carl Shortt began a second career as a professional photographer after retiring from the banking world. He studied under several internationally known photographers and continues to polish his craft with workshops and seminars. A partner in the In Your Eye Gallery, Carl has exhibited his work in many juried shows, including Oklahoma Visual Artists Coalition’s 12 x12, the Myriad Botanical Gardens, Rebuilding Together’s Grey Matters, and the Paseo Arts Association, among others, often receiving top honors for his work. His images have been published in The Oklahoman, MacWorld Magazine, Rotary News, Myriad Botanical Gardens News Letter and Art Focus Oklahoma. In his commercial work, Carl focuses on events, portraiture and food images for local businesses, schools and restaurants. He actively works to engage others in the visual arts, teaching private students. He serves or has served on various arts-focused community boards, including the Allied Arts, Oklahoma Visual Artists Coalition, the Arts Council of Oklahoma City, for whom he co-chaired the Festival of the Arts, and the Metro Camera Club.
